Lillian (Petersen) Walston

April 21, 1935 – April 16, 2012

Lillian J. Walston, age 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 16, 2012.

Lil was born in Randall, Minnesota on April 21, 1935 and graduated from George Washington University in Washington D.C. She married William D. Petersen and had three daughters. William was killed in Vietnam in 1967. She got remarried to Robert R. Walston in 1973. She worked as a school psychologist for the Boise School District for over 20 years. When she retired in 1995, she moved to Seattle to be closer to grandchildren. She continued to work after her retirement at Central Branch Preschool where she was dearly loved by all the kids who called her “Grandma Lil”. She was an avid quilter and she made over 1,000 baby quilts for the St. Joseph Baby Corner. She never wanted to be recognized for her generosity, she just wanted to help. So many new babies in Seattle were blessed to have a quilt made with such love. She will be remembered for having more energy, more life, and more laughs than anyone we’ve ever known.

She is survived by her husband Bob, brothers Walter (Eileen), Ivan (Pat), and daughters Kim Petersen, Kathy Korth (Bill), and Karen Boone (Steve). In addition, she has 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren whom she was extremely proud of.

She is loved and will be greatly missed. Family asks that for remembrances to be made to the St. Joseph Baby Corner at 1001 Broadway, Suite 100, Seattle, WA 98122-4304 or to the Central Branch Preschool at 3605 S. Mt. Baker Blvd. Seattle, WA 98144.

A reception to celebrate her life will be held on April 21st from 1:00PM – 4:00PM at the Stan Sayres Park Boathouse located at 3808 Lake Washington Blvd. S. in Seattle. A reception will also be held in Boise sometime this summer.
