Audimese Eugenia Morris Pruitt

Mrs. Audimese Eugenia Morris Pruitt was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 24, 1938. She was the oldest of two children born to Louis Morris, Sr. and Irma Banks Morris. On December 12, 2016, Mrs. Pruitt departed this life at Valley Medical Center in Renton, WA.

 

She was baptized as an infant and attended elementary school in New Orleans. Audimese went on to attend Walter Cohen High School in New Orleans and graduated in 1956. After high school, Audimese attended Dillard University and graduated in 1960 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education. Audimese went on to further her studies and in 1980, she received her Master’s degree from Seattle University.

 

In August of 1959, Audimese was united in marriage to Willie Jackson, Jr. and to this union, one child was born, Willie Jackson, III. Audimese was a devoted mother and her son was her greatest joy.

 

Audimese was a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority. She was initiated in the Beta Gamma chapter at Dillard University.

 

Audimese began her teaching career in New Orleans, Louisiana where she taught 1st grade. She had a two year stay in Dallas, Texas before moving to Seattle, Washington in 1968 where she began a successful teaching career spanning over 30 years with the Seattle School District. Audimese taught kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade at several elementary schools including Concord, Emerson, Colman, and Dunlap.

 

Audimese was a member of Walker Chapel A.M.E. in Seattle and in her earlier years she was involved on the ushers board and was a member of the choir.

 

Audimese retired in 2000 and she enjoyed her retirement by doing the things she loved to do such as traveling, volunteering at the senior center, spending time with her family, and her favorite pastime, shopping.

 

Audimese leaves to cherish her memory her son, Willie Jackson, III, daughter in law Monique Frey-Jackson, granddaughter Vanessa Cuprice Jackson, brother Louis Morris, Jr., nephew, Taylor Jackson Morris. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Morris, Sr. and Irma Morris.

 

Thank you Audimese for all you have given us. We will miss you. We love you.

 

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, December 29th at 2 p.m. at the West Los Angeles United Methodist Church. Address is: 1913 Purdue Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90025.
