Betty Laverne Lowe was born May 26, 1955 in Seattle, Washington to loving parents Irma J. Lowe (Mitchell) and Frank Lowe Sr. (deceased).  Sadly, she left this Earth on May 30, 2016.  She leaves behind in mourning a daughter, Tanya Lowe; her mother, Irma Lowe; three brothers: Frank Lowe (Priscilla), Andrae Howard and Allen Lowe, as well as a legion of friends.  Preceding her in death were her father, Frank (1991) and a sister, Diane Marie Lowe (2005).

Betty was born and raised in Seattle, Washington.  Living in the Central Area, she attended several schools in the Seattle Public Schools system, including B.F. Day Elementary School, Hamilton Junior High School and Lincoln High School.  After graduating from high school in 1973, Betty began her post-secondary education, attending Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon (1973 - 1974) and Washington State University in Pullman, Washington (1974 - 1975).  Betty returned to Seattle in 1975 and entered the world of work.  The "world of work" would take her to Dallas, Texas, where in 1975, she met a man named Ronald Dayes.  The two became a couple and from this union a child was born, their lovely daughter, Tanya, in 1981.  After the relationship ended, Betty returned to Seattle and worked for several companies while raising Tanya as a single mother.

In 1989, Betty re-entered the world of Higher Education and began attending Seattle Central Community College.  There, she would receive her Associate's Degree in 1991.  Over the course of a few years, she would receive two Bachelor's Degrees (American Ethnic Studies and English) from the University of Washington.  In 1999, Betty fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a librarian, also graduating from the University of Washington with a Master's Degree of Library and Information Science.

Well before her passing, Betty's life had touched many lives and her contributions to "the world of work" had intersected many circles, institutions, and venues to leave a mark.  The result is a life lived well, more friends than can be counted and footprints left in the sand that will never fade away.
