Dorothy Josephine (Pearson) Byrne

With Dorothy's stylish attire, calm, positive demeanor and dedication to her family, this native Seattlelite blessed all who knew her through her 100 years. Born on 11-14-1915 and living until 7-14-2016. She died peacefully in her Rainier Valley home of 63 years with her children and grandchildren at her bedside.

Dorothy attended Steven's Elementary, Roosevelt H.S. and Seattle Business College. She worked at Roger's Candy Company, Atlas Powder and Real Estate Multiple.

Dorothy married Martin James Byrne at Immaculate Conception, Seattle in 1945. She knew Marty was her perfect match because of his devotion to family and children. Together they provided a wonderful family life for their 5 children. Camping on weekends, and attending their children's sports and other activities at St. Edward, Odea and Holy Names.

After Dorothy and Marty retired at 70, they traveled extensively throughout the world. Mom loved a challenging crossword puzzle completing them in ink and gardening and Christmas. Mom accepted everyone without judgement & was never afraid to have a conversation with a stranger. She was a joy to spend time with and always ready to give a complement.

Dorothy's paternal grandparents Hulda and Alexander Pearson emigrated from Stockholm, Sweden. Alexander was a prominent general contractor in early Seattle who built the Montlake Bridge, King Street Station, Swedish Tabernacle, Franklin, and Clevland High Schools, downtown Seattle YMCA and downtown Seattle First Presbyterian Church.
