Eda Dolores Marino Spears

Born November 20, 1925 in the heart of Little Italy, Mom lived her entire live in Rainier Valley.  She moved to the Hillman City area in 1956 and stayed in the family home until the end was fulfilled.  After a long battle with dementia, Eda died suddenly of cardiac arrest on Jan. 27.  Orphaned at 2 years old, Eda was raised in a Catholic orphanage.  She graduated from Holy Angels Academy in 1943, and married Wayne Spears in 1950.  They shared a 61-year marriage.   Mom was a proud member of the American Postal Workers’ Union, and had a long career working at the Terminal Annex Post Office.  Eda was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, her siblings Carmen, Josephine, Anne, Virginia, Teresa, John, and Louie Marino.  She is survived by her two sons, Carl and John; grandsons, Brett and Shaun; and great grandchildren, Hannah and Will. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart.  Eda’s funeral will be on Thursday, February 9 at 12 noon at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church.
