EDITH ERNEDA BANCHERO

February 12, 1921 – September 12, 2016

Neda (95) passed away peacefully at home with family by her side.   Born  to Giovanni  and Adelina Banchero in Black Diamond, she was one of nine children.   The simplicity of life on the farm, gardening, and baking with Mama made her happy.  She was the most loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin & friend.  Eventually she moved to Seattle and lived with her sister, Rena.  She was a meat wrapper for her brother Ed at E&E Meats until she retired.

For entertainment, Neda enjoyed going to Reno or Las Vegas with Rena.  She had a great time pulling those handles on the slots.  Eventually local casinos became her destination.  There was many a Jackpot to be had for this lucky lady!!  Also, she enjoyed road trips from destinations like Disneyland, California wine country, & the Oregon coast.  However, most memorable were her trips with family to Italy visiting relatives and seeing Mareta, where her parents were from.  The relatives loved her, and shuttled her all over the country.  In kind, Neda opened her home to them when they visited America and made sure they could see some of the Untied States.  No time or distance could separate her.  They were only a phone call away.  She spoke fluently in Genovese, her face lighting up at the first word “Pronto”!

More than an aunt, Neda was a mother figure to every niece and nephew.  She was an example of Christ.  Her loving ways were deeply connected to our souls bringing joy into our lives.  We always could count on a listening ear, a face full of laughter and a twinkle in her eye.  Calm in nature, she had a way of seeing the bright side of everything.  When someone was sad, she was the comforter.  She was generous in spirit and possessions to a fault, but that was a fault she could live with.  If everyone could be more like “Auntie Neda”, this world would be a better place.

Selfless, her life was of service:  a caretaker for her mother, father, sister Rena, brother Moe, Aunt Maria, and particularly her little brother, Ralph.  The measure of her words and deeds reflect the love she has left behind.  A woman of faith she was close to God, remembering her prayers, attending Mass and receiving the Eucharist.  She gave life her all, and now she can rest in the arms of Jesus.  Mama greets her as she walks through the door…home at last.  She is reunited with her parents, Angelo, Ed, Rena, Clarina Elena, Mondo, Helen, and Modesto.
