Jermiadean was born in Hughes, Arkansas the eldest of eleven, to one Arie Lee Gamble. Her family first relocated to Chicago, IL before settling in the Pacific Northwest.
Those close to Jermiadean called her “Jeri”. She was more than the matriarch of the Dumas Family; she was the glue that held us all together. Jeri created a loving home nestled in the beautiful Mt. Baker neighborhood, where she raised her eight children and later married, Wilford Brown. Her house has been home for generations of Dumas relatives and extended family. After a long and rewarding career at Seattle University she retired at the age of 64.
A 2010 breast cancer diagnoses would forever change her life. Jeri went on to receive continues home care by her loving children. At the age of 77, surround by family, she was called home to join her husband Wilford Brown, eldest son Johnny Dumas, parents, and 6 siblings.
Jeri is survived by her 2 sisters, Marjorie & Deautry Dumas; 2 brothers Willie & Charles Dumas; 4 sons and their spouses, Ronald and Lynell Dumas, Alexander, Fredrick, and Edward Dumas; 3 daughters Marjorie Payne, Darlene Dumas, and Emily Brown; as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
