Mary Lauretta McComas

On October 24th, 2015, Mary Lauretta McComas peacefully passed away, surrounded by her loving family.  Mary was born on February 24th, 1935, in Sweet Grass, Montana, to parents Donald and Evangeline Sweet.  She lived in Montana until 1962, when she moved to Seattle, WA with her husband and family.  She is preceded in death by her parents; and her best friend and loving husband, Roy Elmer McComas.  She leaves behind her four loving children: Lynn, Linda, Kathy, and Bonnie; her sister Laura, her brother Lyle, fifteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.  Mary had a passion for life, work, and people and always extended a welcoming hand to those in need.  Throughout the years she was blessed as her life touched the many that she cared for and whom she loved, including fourteen foster children and grandchildren.   She was an avid reader, gardener, seamstress, Yahtzee player, and lover of the outdoors.  Valuing the simple things in life and finding joy in everything came naturally to her.  She often reminded us that life is too short to be anything but happy.   Her unconditional love blessed all who knew her.  She will be forever missed, but her legacy of love and family will continue on through her family and friends.    A special thanks to all who kept her in prayer during her illness and to those caregivers who cared for her with love and kindness.  Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. for a graveside memorial at Hillcrest Burial Park, 1005 Reiten Rd, Kent, WA.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mary’s name to Providence Regina House, 8201 10th Ave S #6, Seattle, WA  98108, in support of those less fortunate, for reaching out to those in need honors Mary and the life she led.
