Mercedes Ong

Mrs. Mercedes Ong, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at her home surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Mercedes was born on December 29, 1933 in the Philippines to Abraham and Maria Cabardo.  She married Tana Ong on May 15, 1950 and gave birth to 8 children.  She enjoyed having a salon as well as being a real estate agent.  Most of all she made it her life’s work to care for her husband and kids along with family, friends and anyone that was in need.  She was truly a giving and gracious person, never thinking of herself but always thinking of others.  Mercedes was preceded in death by her beloved husband Tana, her son Benjamin and granddaughter Eunice.  Mercedes leaves to mourn her 7 children and their spouses, Editha and Constancio, Emmanuel and Caroline, Jenonie and Evelyn, Lenidita and James, Angelito, Ernesto and Maribeth, Teresita and Wayne as well as her sister Iluminada, half brothers and sisters, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Viewing and prayer service will be on Friday from 2-9pm and Saturday from 3-8pm at Columbia Funeral Home.
