Gloria Jean Jones ...(Pookie to most of us), left this plane of existence on August 17 2023 while in Hospice in Auburn WA. She passed as a result of complications of Colon and Liver Cancer. She was 76 Years old. Born on November 24th 1946 in Seattle, WA.
Gloria was preceded in death by her loving Mother: Evelina Jones, her father: James Jones, her Brothers: Francis...AKA Bro and Donnie (Donald) Jones, her Nephews: Derrick Jones and Shaden Jones Her brothers in-laws Zeake Davis W.L. Holdman, Lee Dell Campbell.
She leaves behind her Sisters, Jerry Holman-Davis and Cynthia Jones-Taylor, her Brother, Gary Jones, her Nieces, Tracy, Tyheshia, Tannya, Tina, Carrie, Trina and Lynsey, her Nephews: Tashane, Ari, Dion, her sister-in laws: Sabrina, and Hye-Gyong (Linda) Brother in-laws: Robert Taylor and Charles Taylor and many Great Nieces and Nephews too numerous to count.
As a teenager Gloria collected pictures from magazines and newspapers and she would create intricate worlds of beautiful people, worlds she wanted to be a part of complicated worlds, full of glamor, exciting people and things. She lived a bright, shining, luxurious life of her mind's creation. She was often in a place of joy and super powered imagination when she was alone in the room. Gloria was bright, funny and unafraid She loved music and the arts, fashion and she loved going to plays and concerts.
Gloria had the unfailing ability to make your confidence soar. She could make you believe you could accomplish anything!
She would help you with any problem she could and would use her innate wisdom to explain why you were special and why you were ready to do it all. She had your back if you were scared or unsure and would sit in the room with you if you were afraid of the dark. She would show up to every event and cheer louder than anyone else when you succeeded.
Gloria, was brutally honest...brutally, no, I mean, don't ask if you don't really want to know!
Gloria was a complicated force of nature. She was a beautiful, nurturing, funny, happy, sad, mean, kind, solid, trustworthy, uplifting sister/aunt and there will never be another like her.
She has succeeded in leaving behind a pool of love and a longing family. A family left wishing for just a little more time with her, a family feeling a vast emptiness because she has transitioned.
But, Gloria is now on her greatest adventure, sailing the most beautiful seas and finding the greatest love there is. She has left us behind but she has moved on into the Glory that is the foundation of her name, on to the next phase.
We Love you, Pookie, we miss you and you have changed us all.
Sail on Sister, Wind in your face, great adventure in your spirit, you will never be forgotten you will always be loved.
