Jamel Dwight Smith was born at Hazel Hospital in Detroit Michigan on June 6, 1973. He was born to the union of Dwight Stinson of Detroit, MI and Darlene (Smith) DuBose of Woodbridge, VA both of whom he has proceeded in death. At an early age, he attended Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan and as a young child accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
In his youth he was introduced to the love of food, eating and preparation, by his maternal grandmother Mrs. Trudie Mae Smith. In the late 1980s when he migrated to Seattle, Washington with his mother and grandparents he attended La Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and enjoyed an occupation as a chef, his most recent employment was at Anthony's Pier 66 on the waterfront In Seattle, WA.
He leaves to cherish his memory two children Angel J. Martin (Smith) and Elijah Isaiah Cortez Smith. A five year old grandson Kayden Callaway. Two sisters LaTonya Renee Blair (Julian), Carmella Nicole Smith, one brother Daniel Demetrius DuBose (Stephanie), six uncles George A. Smith (Robin), Jerald Smith, Thomas E. Smith, Billy Rasul, Robert A. Smith, Ralph Smith and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
