Orlando Cabellon Obituary

Orlando Ducay Cabellon

Orlando left us to be in the hands of the Lord, suddenly, Friday, September 21, 2018.  He was born to Maximino Cabe Cabellon and Victoria Ducay Cabellon, November 9, 1948 in Narvacan, Illocos Sur, Philippines.  As a naturalized US citizen, he and his family immigrated to Lakewood, WA, in 1962.  He completed a certificate in Automotive Mechanics at Clover Park Vocational Institute and immediately enlisted in the United States Army in 1968.

Orlando volunteered to deploy to Vietnam, where he spent 18 months serving as a heavy diesel mechanic.  He was honorably discharged in 1971 and obtained a Federal Department of Defense position at Seattle Fort Lawton, AMSA 79,working as an Active Guard Reservist (AGR), heavy equipment diesel mechanic and progressed to the position of shop lead. He concurrently continued to serve in the United States Army Reserve, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7).  Orlando retired from his AMSA 79 DoD position in November 2008 after completing 36 years employment.  Additionally, he retired from the Army Reserve in 2008.  For a total of 39 years military service.  He was very proud of his military service.

In retirement, Orlando remained very active, operating his small business, C&W Construction.  He enjoyed working on construction and landscaping projects and the challenge of being “Mr. Fixit“ and using his amazing mechanical and technical aptitude to solve the challenging problems that his work presented. He was always at the ready to lend a helping hand. He possessed a solid head and was the “voice of reason” in all matters.  He loved history, geography and sketching (landscape plans and architecture).  Orlando was a voracious reader of fiction, favoring history, spy and war novels.  His leadership, humor and calm demeanor allowed him to take the lead in many situations.

Orlando leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Brigid Cabellon, his son Patrick Cabellon as well as his most adored and loved grandson, Connor Cabellon.  Also, he is survived by his siblings; Eduardo Cabellon (Lourdes), Alberto (Crystal), Rosemelda (David), Maximino, James (Rosario) and Marita (Stephen), as well as nephews; Scott, Steven, Kenneth, Derek and nieces; Tammy, Stacy, Amanda and Samantha.  He was an amazing and loving man. He was a rock to his family and he will be infinitely missed by each and every one.  We know he is in God’s hands and his good deeds on earth warranted him a pass to Heaven.  Orlando, you will be forever in our hearts, forever loved and cherished. God Bless You!
