Robert (Bob) J. Fortier was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his wife of 51 years, Connie Fortier; his son, Craig (Elizabeth) Fortier; and two grandchildren, Codi and River.
He was born on April 24, 1941 in Crookston, Minnesota into a family of 9 siblings. Bob was a loving brother to all and is survived by siblings Ellen, Jean, Alice, Emily, Pat and many nieces and nephews. He passed peacefully March 25, 2018 in his home in Seattle, WA.
Bob served four years in the Air Force, stationed in Alaska, where he fell in love with the natural landscape. He then moved to Seattle to work in the automotive body industry. He met his wife at the Chancellor's Club soon after. After working first at a car dealership, he moved on to Metro, where he retired in 2004.
After Bob’s retirement, they traveled around the United States and Canada visiting with friends and family. His last trip was one of his favorites. Not only did he celebrate his fiftieth anniversary with Connie, but he finally got to ride on the narrow gauge railway from Skagway, AK to the Yukon with his family.
Bob’s faith was an important part of his life and he was an active member in his parish, St. Paul’s Catholic Church. His tools were always at the ready to fix,create, or clean whatever was needed in the Parish. Bob was always there to extend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Bob was well known for his immaculate yard and garden. He enjoyed spending time outside watching the birds and planning his next project.
Bob loved to spend time watching the wildlife and visiting with friends and family at the campsite on the Cowlitz River. Many stories have been told around the campfire that include Bob and his appreciation for exceedingly large potatoes.
Bob was well known for his stories, his generous spirit, and his woodworking skills. He had a passion for country music and listening to the guitar.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
