Barbara Lucille Chris (nee Anderson) passed away on February 5, 2020 at the age of 86 after a short battle with cancer.
Barbara grew up in Snohomish, WA and after graduating from high school attended Washington State University.
She met Alfred Chris while living in Seattle and they married on July 11, 1953 at Saint James Cathedral. She and Al raised their children, Darlene and Gary in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle.
Barbara volunteered for the American Cancer Society for many years, taking patients to treatments and back home again. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, putting on many functions and dinners and going through all the chairs of the women’s auxiliary.
Barbara is known for her love of a good party with family and friends. The backyard of the Chris family home hosted many parties over the years, which were so well-known that Darlene and Gary’s friends came to them even after Darlene and Gary had moved out. She and Al enjoyed weekly trips to the casino to catch a show and maybe win some money.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Darlene (Scott), daughter-in-law Debbie (Gary), granddaughter Alexis and grandson Mitchell. She is preceded in death by her son Gary and husband Al.
Her fun-loving nature impacted many people and she will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
A private burial will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery.
Donation in Barbara’s name can be made to Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center in lieu of flowers.
