Chhumlin Lan was born January 15, 1932 to Mov Lan and Thoa Sron in Kompong Cham, Cambodia; she was the 2nd child of the five siblings. She married Mr. Tharn Cheav and had three daughters, (Dany, Ravy, and Ravuth) and four sons (Vutha, Kara, Ravin and Visoth). All together she has 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Ms. Lan lived a challenging and difficult life; she became a widow in 1970. Being a single parent, she was able to provide a comfortable home for her children until the Cambodian Genocide began in 1975, where all Cambodian families were forced to leave all their belongings behind. Her determination and will kept all her children alive and safe during the war.
Ms. Lan came to the United States in 1994 and has lived in: Utah, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. She will be remembered as a loving mom, mother-in-law, a caring grandmother, and a wonderful cook.
