Chieko Ann Cicha

     Chieko was born in Nagano, Japan on December 17, 1923, and after 99 years of a wonderful life she peacefully passed away on January 17, 2023.  She went to be with our Heavenly Father and many family and friends who are in heaven, and were waiting for her to join them.

     She was a nurse in Tokyo, Japan when she met the love of her (and his) life, Sylvester Cicha.  At the time of her passing, they were married for 70 years.

     She was a joy and a wonderful inspiration to everyone who knew her.  She was the best cook, spending a good portion of her day in the kitchen, making sure no one went without a great meal.

     She continued to work as a home health nurse, and eventually working for one family who hired her as their private nurse.  She worked with them for over 10 years.

     She was a very artistic person.  She hand knit numerous blankets and sewed many articles of clothing for herself and her daughter, Mary.  From 1973 to 1999, she won 23 awards for composing Japanese Haiku poetry.  She was a fantastic gardener at and in her house.  The picture above this obituary is an example of her gardening skills.

     She is survived by her husband, Sylvester, daughter Mary and son Robert (Darlene).  She was the most loving and extraordinary mother anyone could hope to be blessed with.  She was always there and present for her family.

     The family would like to thank the nurses who took such great care of her at Washington Care Center.

     Viewing, service and reception will be at Columbia Funeral Home 4567 Rainier Avenue South, Seattle, WA on February 17, 2023.  Viewing will be at 10:00 AM, funeral service will be at 11:00 AM and a reception starting at about 12:00 PM.
