Dawson PoorBear Obituary

Dawson PoorBear was born on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, to Toni and Lester PoorBear, on August 9th, 1985. He passed away on March 14th, 2024, in Seattle, WA.

Dawson attended Kirkland High School, as well as Franklin Pierce High School, and excelled in basketball, football, and track. He had an interest in learning a second language and caught on quickly to Spanish.

After High School, Dawson stayed in the Tacoma/Seattle area. He went on to have his first child, Isaiah Long (19). From there he had Ashley Garza (18), Neveah PoorBear (16), and Deandre PoorBear (14). His children were the joy of his life. If they needed him, he would be there. He would fight till the end of the earth for his family.

Dawson enjoyed music. He also authored poems, songs, and drew pictures. He was very artistically talented. He was silly and could make you laugh even in the most serious of situations. He was a big lover under his tough exterior.

Dawson was preceded in death by his father, Lester, sister, Chera (Cheriyah) PoorBear, and brother Raymond PoorBear.

He is survived by his mom, Toni. His sons, Isaiah and Deandre, his daughters, Ashley and Neveah, brothers, Lester PoorBear Jr., Weldon PoorBear, Quentin PoorBear, OC Bell, Gordon Adolph, Travis Adolph, Allen Adolph, Lanze Adolph, Jack Vieux, and Gregory Vieux. Sisters Christine PoorBear, Chauncina PoorBear, Samantha Adolph, Olivia PoorBear, Emma EagleBear, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves a host of friends and family to love and cherish his memory.

Dawson was a rare gem shining so brightly in an unjust world. He thought differently. He processed life differently. He battled many hard things in this earthly life. He was always ready to protect and defend his loved ones. He did not have much, but anything he had he would give away in a heartbeat if you needed it.

Rest in peace, Dawson. You will forever be remembered and loved by all who knew you. Your legacy of love, humor, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with you. May you find peace and comfort in the arms of the Great Spirit. Until we meet again, watch over us and guide us from above. You will never be forgotten.
