Dusan Coguric passed on Monday, June 21st, 2021, at 10pm of cardiac arrest in Seattle, Washington. He is survived by: his wife of 26 years, Mia Wu; his half-sister Jirina (Svencova) Yates in the U.K. And his half-brother Vanja Coguric in Montenegro. His cousins are scattered throughout the globe in U.S, Serbia and Austria. Dusan was predeceased by his parents Stojan Coguric of Montenegro and Vojka Milovanovic (ex Coguric) Svencova of the Czech Republic.
Dusan was born in Banja Koviljace, Serbia in 1958, and graduated from “Gimnazija Vuk Karadzic” in Loznica in 1977. Cogo felt at home anywhere in the world. From 1983 it was NYC and since 2015, Seattle.
Dule’s life really changed when he met the love of his life, Mia, after they were introduced by a mutual musical friend. It was a strong bond between a concert violinist and an amazing rock bassist and guitarist. His talent earned him accolades from such bands as 3 Doors Down, Metallica and Ringo Starr’s Allstars with Jack Bruce. In NYC Sean was the bassist for the heavy metal group Down By My Sins.
“Rock Project Loznica” was conceived by Dusan, his band Jack Fierce, and friends from Sweden and the Czech Republic as a summer music festival by and for the town of Loznica with the support of the “Black Dragons Moto Klub”. The first concert was held at the Cultural Center “Vuk Karadzic” in August 2018 with great success. The following year, in 2019, the festival was held outdoors; the largest and most well attended to date. Another is planned for the summer of 2021.
Dusan made friends quickly with everyone he met; he was your best buddy. His lovable smile and open arms were unforgettable. If Dusan said, “Come on over! I’m cooking!” You would be silly to say no. Everyone who sampled his down-home Serbian cooking knows what I’m talking about….
