Frank Keenan Obituary

Frank Keenan, 80, of Des Moines, WA passed away peacefully at home with family on February 2nd after a long battle with cancer.

Francis Joseph Keenan was born in Washington D.C. to Joe and Josephine Keenan. Frank spent his childhood growing up in Boise, Idaho. At the age of 14, his family moved to Anchorage, where he spent his high school years. He excelled in high school sports culminating in the excitement of participating in state championships for baseball and basketball. The spotlight ultimately led to a scholarship from Seattle University. He graduated from Anchorage High School in 1958 and Seattle University in 1964. During his college years he met Patricia (Trish) O’Leary, they married in 1963 and adventured through 57 years of marriage.

After fulfilling his military obligation in the U.S. Army, Frank began his career as a commercial real estate appraiser, becoming MAI partner in the firm Schuler, McKown and Keenan. Frank would spend his later years with Kidder Matthews before retiring.

In addition to hunting and fishing, Frank was an excellent golfer, gaining him notoriety in the Pacific Northwest. He and Trish, longtime members of the Des Moines Yacht Club, spent many years happily boating and making friends in Washington, Canada and Alaska. There was nothing more that Frank enjoyed, than making large meals and creating a festive atmosphere for family and friends.

Frank is survived by wife Patricia, daughter Joanne, son-in-law Chris Ophoven, grandson Milo Ophoven, sister Marianne Berus, and brother Michael.

A funeral service will be held for family at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Burien. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at a later time when friends can safely gather.

In lieu of flowers Frank asked that donations be made to
