Frederick A. Laubscher M.D.

Fred Laubscher was born November 29, 1935 in Norwalk Connecticut to Frederick A Laubscher and Alice Roesel Laubscher and died April 6, 2017 in Reno, Nevada. He did his undergraduate degree at The College of the Holy Cross and received his medical degree at Georgetown University.

     After an internship at San Francisco General Hospital, Fred moved to Seattle to do a residency in Pathology at the University of Washington. At the Children’s Hospital he met his wife Ann; their son Peter was born in Seattle. After his residency he served three years in the Army Medical Corps. The army sent him to Germany where he had a busy professional experience and wonderful travel and cultural experiences.

      After moving to Reno, Nevada to practice Pathology his son Matt was born. Fred loved the easy access to skiing and hiking the High Sierra. His travels evolved into adventure, multiple treks in the Himalaya and the Karakoram. Tibet, Sikkim, Nepal, Bhutan—he was there. Then he started to include the Antarctic and Arctic.  Of course everywhere he went so did his camera. There were trips to Pitcairn Island and Easter Island.  On the Atlantic side he loved the Seychelles and Madagascar.  His travels took him to all seven continents.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11am Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Renton, WA. Burial will follow 2pm at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Seattle, WA.
