Born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on March 27, 1934 to Duncan and Doris Reid. Lois attended University High School and the University of Oregon in Eugene, and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Medical Technology. Lois then moved to San Francisco, California for work where she was re-acquainted with her future husband Paget Adrian Loomis, also from Eugene. They were married on August 10, 1958.
Lois worked at several hospitals in California, Oregon, and Washington as a medical technologist, rearing five children, and eventually retiring from Highline Hospital in 1994.
After retirement, Lois and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially to Nova Scotia, Maine, and jazz festivals in Oregon, California, and Colorado. Lois loved to weave and knit and had a passion for Native American fabric arts and sculpture. Lois was proceeded in death by her husband Paget on February 20, 2017 and a year later moved to The Lakeshore retirement community in Seattle.
Lois succumbed to heart failure on August 17, 2022 and is survived by five children: David, Annette, Jennifer, Susan, and Patrick; eleven grandchildren: Brandi, Logan, Sean, Jacob, Steven, Naomi, Kristen, Miya, Antonio, Caroline, and Rue; three great-grandchildren: Duncan, Colton, and Adrian, and her beloved cat Jilly, all of whom already miss her very much.
Donations in Lois’ name can be made to the American Heart Association and would be very much appreciated. No public service is planned.
