On Monday, January 11, 2021, Rodino F. Carlos, beloved brother and friend, passed away in the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, due to heart failure.
Rodino was born on March 15, 1960 in San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines, to Amado and Rosa Carlos. In 1981, he completed his Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture from Pampanga Agricultural College. Because of his lifelong love for food, he primarily worked in the food service and culinary fields in the Philippines, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Alaska, and Seattle.
Rodino is fondly known by his family and friends as “Dino” or “Dines.” Whether through his bellowing laughter or many jokes, he constantly brought joy to those around him. His family members remember his funny antics and pranks, especially in times of trouble or pain. He was always willing to lend a helping hand – whether through his gifts in cooking or through other means of support. As one family member said of him, “'Di baleng wala siya, basta’t alam niya na komportable ang mga mahal niya sa buhay” (“To him, it didn’t matter if it meant having nothing as long as his loved ones were comfortable”). His family and friends will miss his joy, kindness, and generosity.
Rodino was preceded in death by his father Amado, his mother Rosa, his sister Rosalinda, and his brothers Rodillo and Rossano. He leaves behind his twin brother Rocarlo, his sister Rowena, his older brothers Romano and Rommel, and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Columbia Funeral Home in Seattle, Washington, on January 23, 2021, with visitation from 12 pm to 5 pm and a virtual funeral service from 6 pm to 8 pm. The Carlos family will host an additional memorial service for Rodino in the Philippines once COVID restrictions are lifted, and details will be announced at a later time.
