Rufus Berry, the second of twelve children, seven boys and five girls was born September 11, 1943 to the late Rev. John and Dorothy Berry in Holly Grove Arkansas. Having been preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Amos, William and TB, He answered the called and said goodbye on September 28, 2020.
He is a Christian, baptized at an early age at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Blackton, AR. He obtained his high school diploma from Big Bend Community college in Moses Lake, WA. After leaving home at an early age he enlisted into the United States Army. Where he did two tours in the Vietnam war. He retired from the military in 1977 with an honorable discharge.
Rufus life work included Dollar Rental Car company and Cole & Webber. He was also an entrepreneur establishing a cleaning company and owned a successful restaurant Berry’s BBQ.
He leaves with great sadness three brothers: Larry Berry ( Seattle, WA), Rev. James Berry (Marianna, AR), Odia (Ferria) Berry (Atmore, AL); five sisters: Nancy Drinker (Buford, GA), Minnie (Gerald) Dugas ( Houston, TX) Juanita Mcelrath (Alexander City, AL), Wonder (Melvin) Colbert (Moreno Valley, CA), Judy (Steven) Smith (Buford, GA) and a host of nieces and nephews and friends
