John Henry Elder Jr.

Born in Seattle, WA on July 15, 1946, was called home to be with the Lord on October 15, 2015.  John (Johnny) graduated from Garfield High School in 1964.  After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Japan, promoted to Sergeant, where he won many awards and trophies for his body building.  After the military he continued to weight lift and pursued a new interest, martial arts (Capoeira).  He also enjoyed painting and had a vast collection of jazz records.  Johnny had a kind and gentle soul and will be greatly missed by all who encountered him.

Brother Johnny accepted the Lord over nine years ago. He faithfully attended church services at Cannon House and at Leon Sullivan under Bible Study Outreach Ministries until he went home to The Lord. Pastor Donald Tatum was his pastor and close friend. The staff of Bible Study Outreach visited him weekly sharing Bible scriptures and prayer. He was a blessing to everyone that visited him. He had a great sense of humor and everyone loved Bro. Johnny.

Johnny is survived by brothers: Arnold and Alfred (Atlanta); sisters: Regina and Carolyn; nieces: Jan Marie (Atlanta) and Carlisia Minnis; nephews: Lovell, Jon, Dante (Atlanta), Dolray and

Dominique; grandnephews and grandnieces: Justin Stallworth, Aden, Ayan, and Gabriel (Atlanta) and Isaiah Ticeson, cousins: Lisa, Donald, Taylor and Sydney Hills (California). 

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 27 at 11:00 am at Columbia Funeral Home, 4567 Rainier Ave South, Seattle, WA  98118.
