Nela was born in Lingayen, Pangasinan, Philippines. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1973 to start a family with her beloved husband and ultimately gave birth to three wonderful children. To support the family, she dedicated 26 years of service to the U.S. Postal Service. Thereafter, she enjoyed her retirement as a devoted grandmother, while tending to her beautiful garden as her health permitted. She will be remembered for her loving spirit, hospitality but most especially for her role as the matriarch of her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Flaviano and Marina Manuel; her brother, Mariano; and her nephew Armando. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jose; her sister in-law Adoracion; her brother Bonifacio (Stella); her children Robert (Myra), Jonela, and Austin (Jacqueline); her niece Marianne (Nelson); her nephews Michael and Andrew; her grandchildren Amalia, Athena, Arielle and AJ; her grandniece Grace; and all of her beloved friends and relatives. Viewing will be at the Columbia Funeral Home on Thursday, August 27, 2-8pm with Rosary at 7pm. Mass will be at St. Edward Catholic Church on Friday, August 28, 11:00am. Interment will follow at Tahoma National Cemetery, Covington, WA.
